movie_liker,
When you are talking about 'Acting',that means you are talking about Sivaji
Sivaji=Acting
We know about over acting also..Sivaji mastered in all kinds of acting.
Please go and watch Devar magan,muthal mariyathai to check how was his acting,probably you will come to know what is Acting

Agree with you appoose, the biggest embarrassment of the lot has got to be Jeans. I mean you got to be pretty thick-skinned and downright stupid to enter sometinh like that. BTW, apart from Hey Ram and Lagaan, Earth 1947 was also a good entry in my opinion.

Mohanlal is the only actor in India who can be considered for Oscar awards.Kamal has variety but his over emotions will be a real hindrence for him in getting an oscar.Lal is more natural these days .His exprssionsare better

Well...guess what...the only person who has come close is Aamir Khan in recent times, incidentally one of the best Indian actors in my opinion.

first of all i question the validty of this discussion.
Oscars awards r meant for hollywood film industry. Realise that we got a different film industry, infact more than one industry... different local film industries r there...
there is no doubt, india has produced extraordinary talents in all aspects of film making, we produced directors like satyajith raj, mrinal sen, rhitwik ghatak, adoor gopalakrishana, shaji karun.
This directors have been able to take indian cinema abroad, especially to european community. But the matter to be discussed her is r we providing enough support for such film makers...
Majority of Indian audience has the attitude of avoiding watching such award winning movies... Most of us develop a predetermined notion that such movies r slow, boaring and difficult to understand..
audience sensibilty is to questioned here? r we only able to digest the same old formulaes that r recycled and recycled more than a million times... thankfully lagaan and monsoon wedding was a releif...
but still, all we care is whether our favourite commerical film actor gets an oscar....
it's high time we realise that we have a identity of our own... oscars's r big deal... may be for hollywood films, but not 4 us...
