Second Thoughts
By Moviebuzz
Is the leading producer and distributor Swargachitra Appachen having second thoughts about producing Mammootty’s Siddique directed Chronic Bachelor? For the last eight months Appachen has been postponing the film on some pretext or the other, seeing the diminishing market value of the super star. Now Mammootty and director Siddique have announced that they will go ahead and launch the film on Malayalam New Year Day (August 17).
Chronic Bachelor is the film that Mammootty has great hopes to revive his sagging career. The film is said to be heavily inspired from Jack Nickolson’s As Good As It Gets and Mammootty has three heroines Samyuktha Varma (if she gives dates) yesteryear heroine Gowthami and Kaveri.
But people in the trade say that Appachan’s desperate attempts to mop up funds for the film from the theatres has drawn a blank. So in sheer desperation Mammootty has floated a distribution company called Technotainments, which would fund the film and Swargachitra Appachen’s network would be used to distribute the film.
Hats Off To You Mammookka!

Meesha Makes Money!
By Moviebuzz
Dileep has twirled the moustache once again at the box office, with the stupendous success of Meesha Madhavan. The film has taken a fantastic opening in all the 36 screens in Kerala. It is all set to collect a distributors share of Rs 52 lakhs in 2 days, which is excellent.
Said Suresh Shenoy of Shenoys theatre in Ernakulam where the film is running to packed houses, “Due to pressure for tickets I have kept my mobile off for the last few days. The film is not only a super hit but is appreciated by the crowds”. The trade is gung-ho about the film which they feel will ultimately cross the collections of Tenkasipattanam. Dileep and Jagathy Sreekumar have been receiving all the bouquets along with director Lal Jose who has made the film a big success. Another highlight of the film is the music by Vidyasagar.
The moral of the story is that if a film has a good storyline and has entertainment value, people will flock to the theatre. Those who say that Television and the sob serials have destroyed Malayalam cinema should take a visit to theatres screening Meesha Madhavan.

Ranjith's new film to be shot in US: After Nandanam, Ranjith is busy with his new project, which will be shot extensively in America. Ranjith has flown to the United States for the initial work. Thriveni Films and Grihalakshmi Productions jointly produce the film.
Ranjith is planning to start the new film after Swamy, the Tamil remake of Nandanam. The new film will have Navya Nair as the heroine and hero will be a new face. A R Rahman-Vairamuthu composes music for the film Swamy. Nandanam is remade into Telugu and Kannada. This is for the first time a film is remade into many languages.
Good opening for Meesha Madhavan: Meesha Madhavan is proving to be a super hit and has taken a very good opening in many parts of the state. The film is running to packed houses and is appreciated by the crowds. Dileep and Jagathy Sreekumar have been receiving all the bouquets along with director Lal Jose who has made the film a big success.
Another highlight of the film is the music by Vidyasagar. Dileep has twirled the moustache once again at the box office, with the stupendous success of Meesha Madhavan. The moral of the story is that if a film has a good storyline and has entertainment value, people will flock to the theatre.

Dilip in Kungikoonan: Kungikoonan, the film directed by Sasishankar starring Dilip has begun in Thodupuzha. It is for the first time Dilip is acting in a double role. Navya Nair is the heroine of the film. Other casts include Kochin Haneefa, Salim Kumar, Sphadikam George and Bindu Panickkar. Mohan Sithara composes music
Siddarthan's entry: Late actor Bharathan would always be known and remembered for his amazing performance in the Malayalam Filmdom. His wife KPAC Lalitha still acts in Malayalam movies and now it is the turn of his son Siddarthan to make his debut into movies. He acts in a movie Nammal directed by Kamal. Along with Siddarthan, his friend Jishnu also acts in this movie.
For Jishnu this is not the first time he is appearing before the camera since he has already acted as a child artiste in a movie directed by his father Raghavan who is also an actor. Both Siddarthan and Jishnu are lucky to have the first movie being directed by Kamal. David will produce the film under the banner of Achu Cinema. Mohan Sithara will score music. The heroine will be a new face and the other cast members are Sreenivasan, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Kochin Haneefa and so on.
Bad news: Thenkasipattanam, the Malayalam remake in Tamil has turned a flop. With this, the fate of Samyuktha Varma who entered the Tamil tinsel world hangs in balance. The critics in Chennai says that she lacks glamour, which is important in Tamil films. Her mallu looks and plump figure have not wooed the Tamil audience and she seems to stand no chance against the Mumbai models and beauty queens.
Another film, Panchathanthiram the Kamal starrer too shares the same fate. This puts a big question mark on the fate of Kamal. The industry hopes that these two films will pick up in the long run.

The guy( not Jishnu) in Nammal is just good-for-nothing... I didn't have the 'luck' to see the movie, thanks to the regular screening of the songs on the television. My goodness.. How could Kamal think of introducing such a face !! His close-up view will anger the most placid souls.. And even more, what is so great in that song "Enthu sughamanee...".. The singers are okay, they've done their job well... But man, what a song is that!! It is so so dragging... The self-same monotony throughout the song will drag the life out of you..
