The condition of the present TV serials is pathetic. These are the reincarnations of the so-called "Painkily" novels that used to be published in the tabloid "Ma" weeklies from Kottayam. The only difference is - earlier people had to buy these weeklies to read the novels - which encouraged people to learn to read - whereas now even the illiterates can get addicted at no expense. The mentally challenged viewers are taken for a ride by the new-age Serial script writers who either unscrupulously steal from the horror & mystical novels written by Ettumanoor Sivakumar & the like or satisfy the hunger of the serial producers by writing strictly commercial stuff which does not have any artistic value.
It is disheartening to compare film makers like the great Padmarajan to the serial directors/script writers. This is certainly not a generalisation nor attributed to the old is gold philosophy. But as I said earlier, the modern serial writers have to learn a lot about the artistic facets of life rather than going after the commercial content - the tough competition in the channel war notwithstanding.
I am sorry Mr. Ranjith, but if you really appreciate constructive criticism, please stop contributing to the scum the modern script writers are creating.

serials just spoil the mental health of viewers. utilise the time for some other creative purpose
