she is the best thing to happen to the indian film music after the legendary lataji. she is a trained classical vocalist and at the same time she can catch up all the lightest numbers with the most unique style and trend peculiar to only her. i love her and am one of her craziest fans!!!

  Mr. Hally, with due respect (since I know that you are a Big Alka fan), I ask you : Who gave you this misinformation that Alka is not getting awards? Recently (last week) she got the Sahara Sangeet Award at Robert Albert Hall, London for Best Playback Singer, year 2003-2004.
  Sunidhi or Kavita did not receive any famous award for this year or for the last year. Sunidhi got one Sahara award recently but that was a consolation prize sort of an award since it was not for any category. But apart from that she did not receive any famous awards to date. On the other hand, Alka received Sansui Award, Pritish Nandi Communications, Apsara awards last year for Odhni Odh ke nachoon.. I agree that Shreya also received a set of awards, but basically she remains a 2 song/ 2 film wonder (Devdas and Jism).

  In total, Alka received 2 National awards (President awards – it is really tough to get this award and considered as if one can receive it once in a life time), 6 Filmfare awards and bunch of Zee and Screen awards. So, please let us not compare her number of awards with the number of awards that any of the mentioned singers has received. She should be only compared with Lata ji or Asha ji.
