Nattuvangam

I would like to know if nattuvangam can be learned from a book?
If one learns from his guru does 'it' differ from guru to guru?

My idea on this is that Natavangam is to dance what Konakol is to mridangam. You have to understand the dance and the syllables that the dancers use.

Once I saw two books by a teacher from Kalashetra on the art of nattuvangam. In my opinion, it is impossible for a beginner to progress without the guidance of a guru.
