To keep the record straight...

Everyman is published in The Observer.

This paper was separate from The Guardian but when it fell into the doldrums it was acquired by The Guardian and hence it appears on the Guardian site.

It will be correct to say Everyman is a crossword from The Guardian stable.

One of the original composers of this crossword is Ximenes, who framed some strict conventions for the crossword. Those who still follow them are known as Ximeneans. Those who don't follow them are libertarians. (Who can say who among THC setters belong to which school?)

To add a further comment, I know that it is set by a single person.

I have come across the name before but I don't remember just now.

However, I understand that the present compiler has been at it challenging the solvers for the past ten years.

At one time Everyman was set by Dorothy Taylor as part of a team.

This lady passed away recently and there was an obituary in a UK paper.
