R.Sudarsanam was at the fading end of his career in 1965. He had been composing music for films since at least the 1940s. "Parasakthi" is one among the many classics he composed music for.

Kaarthigai Dheepam is probably a tearjerker. Many songs in the film are sad, or have a tinge of sadness (eNNappaRavai by TMS, eNNappaRavai by PS, thangga thEril vanthiRanggum by LRE, unggu uNNadA selvamE by LRE, malai sAynthu pOnAl by TMS).

Listen to TMS's rendition of eNNappaRavai. It is a simpe composition. The Pallavi is great but the rest of the song lines are simple. But... do not be fooled by its simplicity. Thanks NeelD. அருமையான பாடல். Nice song to listen to before retiring for the day. I'm big fan of TMS (ofcourse after SPB). But it doesnt even come close to PS version of the song, though I'm not a big fan of her.
