The move from the zonal to the Plate-Elite format have generally made the matches more even contests than they used to be. It is no longer about long knocks on dead tracks to maximize the innings lead.

The last two years have been quite surprising. UP and Bengal, not very highly rated teams, made it to the finals last year. Railways defeated Punjab the year before. In the two finals in a row, in the preceding years Mumbai comprehensively defeated TN.

Last year TN was unlucky to have 3 of its matches drawn due to rain. They suffered losses against Maharashtra and Mumbai. But they drew with Delhi and managed to defeat Bengal (who actually went on to become finalists !).

This year TN started by drawing with (but conceding 1st innlead lead to) Delhi. Badrinath (who made a century there) has been appointed captain ahead of biggies in the team. The second match against Andhra is on its way in Chepauk with another knock from Badrinath. TN still misses Balaji and is trying out new 'keepers in place of Dinesh Kaarthik.

Let's dicuss the Ranji results and TN's chances in this thread.

Fielding no doubt he is better.
If you compare with praveen, that is also ok. But munaf is a better bowler with poor attitude. Talent wise he is way ahead of agakarar.
Ishant is in a different planet. He is going through a confused period where people ae advising him to be a medium pacer while he wants to be a fast bowler. If handled well, he is a great prospect.
Sreeanth is a fine talent.

Like it o not, a majority of agaka's wickets came when batsmen slogged at him after 2 boundaries in the same over. I have watched cricket closely thoughout his career.

He'll make a 70 against zim and commentator ravi shastri will go "he is a allounder"
Then failure against australia. Ravi goes "who claimed he is all ounder. He is a bowler who can bat." Etc.

i do accept this ... i dont know whether it was his strategy or natural ...but he ll take a wicket after those two balls ...

i also got frustrated with him ... that too i cannot forgot how he bowled to kulusner in 1999 world cup match against SA

No, he is not betteer than the current crop. Ishant ans sree ae fine prospects with great talent. Munaf is good, too. These days run scoring has inflated so you can't compare economy rates.

Agarka's test avg is 47 - that tells it all. Even chris harris has lots of odi wickets at lesser economy rate than agakar.
I'll tell you something - wasim akram's record at the end of the same number of matches as agarkar's final tally of matches is inferior to agarkar
What does this mean? By then, akram had won a world cup for pakistan. But agarkar has more wickets at lesser economy rate. Who would you rather have in your team? That's why statistics should be seen in the right way - some stats reveal the true picture , some don't.In the famous words of sidhu(who borrowed it from elsewhere
