Kannada Films during 50's,60's and 70's had very good music from stalwarts like Ranga rao, aswathama,Vijayabhaskar, T.G.Lingappa,Ghantasala,Rajan-Nagendra,G.K.Venkatesh.

this would be the place to bring in some gems from that period.

That was a period where good directors like S.R.Puttanna, B.R.Bandhulu
actors like kalyan kumar, udayakumar , rajkumar and actresses like
kalpana, aarthi, jayanthi, sarojadevi gave good performances. Lyricists like sadashiviah, prabhakara sastry, ku.ra.see,vijayanarasimha gave good lyrics.

Tomorrow is “Bali padyami”. On this day; God Mahavishnu came in the form of Vamana (dwarf) and killed Bali-chakravarthi. All our historical episodes are depicting the principles of
‘duShTa shikShaNa-shiShTa rakShaNa’ which means removal of evils to protect good things/peoples.
With the same principle, one film was made during 1980 by Jain combines: ‘nArada vijaya’ Very interesting film with suspense, comedy, love and all. Shri Ananthnag in duel role as Narada and Vijay. Here is a song from that movie which narrates, when actual Narada who is also a triloka sanchari – traveler of three worlds, after receiving instructions from Shri Mahavishnu, came to earth to save one of his devotees who was in troble, astonished to see the earth which is different from what he has seen during earlier Yugas. This film was a grand success during those days.

Tomorrow is “Kannada Rajyotsava” day. On this occasion, here is a patriotic song from the film “kaNNu teredu nODu”, B/W film released during 1961. With Rajkumar, a talented poet with blindness and gets eyesight at the end of the film. Balakrishna as a villain, who encash blindman’s talent during his blindness. Very good social drama made into film was a big success during those days.‘kaNNu teredu nODu’ means ‘open your (inner) eyes and see’. The film has about 10 melodious songs tuned by GKV, written by shri G V Iyyar. One song ‘kallu sakkare kolliro’ is of shri Purandaradasaru.
