cinemayudae kaalpadukal -directed by M R Rajan was screened yesterday. This film is a documentary on Malayalam films in its golden age-that is between 1950-1970.
"Sobhana" Parameswaran Nair renowend still photogrpaher turned producer introduced M T Vasudevan Nair, Madhu, P Jayachandran, Brahmanandan, Adoor Bhasi, Sreedevi, Jyothilekshmi into the film industry. The film is a sojourn through the words of A vincent, K Raghavan, M T Vasudevan Nair, Madhu, Jayachandran with Parameswaran Nair . It also takes the viewer to the shooting spots where popular films were screened.

Mammootty on stage as Bheema

If Mohanlal has proved himself on stage with plays like Karnabharam and more recently with Chayamukhi, can Mammootty be far behind?

Mammootty is going on stage to perform as Bheeman, culled out of M T Vasudevan Nair’s famous novel Randaamuzham .

It will be directed by T K Rajeev Kumar and Pramod Payyannoor. The play will be about 45 minutes and Mammootty will also do the roles of Yudhistiran and Arjunan.

Bheeman will be sponsored by Malayala Manorama, the leading newspaper in the state. It may sound coincidental but Mammootty’s play is going to be staged on Friday October 31 at the LULU centre, Trichur, where Mohanlal premiered his Chayamukhi!

besides this movie he is playing a friendly ghost in a movie and there is also Pazhassiraja i am very much looking forward to (Sarathkumar is also in the movie)

Anoop,

I thought of hinting you tomorrow about these photos, because it should be midnight there. But you surprised me.

Sify had taken these stills from the weekly Vellinakshathiram.

The ghost movie is Pattanathil Bootham where he plays double role. Ofcourse Pazhassi Raja will be an epic with MT - Hariharan team straining every nerve.

There are some more exciting projects for Mam this year. Kutty Shrank directed by Shaji. M.Karun [shooting over], bilingual Vandemathram [Aruvadai in Tamil] with Arjun, Daddy cool, Loudspeaker directed by Jayaraj with script by Ranjith. He plays an IT guy in another new film aptly titled as "Handsome". There is Mallan Mathevan to be directed by Shafi. Interestingly in another new film, Mam enacts a role of a Keralite born and brought up in Madurai and the film has been named as Pokkiri Raja. In the movie on Sri Narayana Guru titled as Yuga Purushan, he plays an important character [Lal comes in as Swami Vivekananda and our Thalaivasal Vijay acts as Narayana Guru]. B.Unnikrishnan who directed Maadambi is doing a film with Mam, tentatively titled as Sardaarji. Shaji Kailas plans to do a James bond style hi fi action movie with Mam.

In addition it seems that Mammootty had commited to do two Tamil films. One would be produced by Lingusamy and the other film to be directed by a new director Sheik [assistant to Shaji Kailas] which is named as Sarkar.

Many interesting projects on hand. Let us hope it will be a feast for us.
