The main story of Yogi is based on the slum area in Chennai and extensively shot in the slum area. Ameer put in a lot of effort for the movie by reducing his weight with regular gym exercises so that he can suit the role better.
The movie Yogi with Ameer and Madhumita in the lead role is said to made at a budget of 12 crore and expected to be a deepavali release. The action sequences in the movie are shot on par with a Hollywood movie. Two of the fights in the movie have been shot for 51 days and were high risk ones for everyone involved. Director Subramania Siva is the director of Yogi.
Lyricist Snehan will also be seen in a character role as Ameer’s friend in the movie. After this movie , Ameer will be directing Jayam Ravi in the movie Kannapiraan which is a Madurai based story, but not about the aruva culture. It will show the non-violent side of Madurai.
