| I Booked the tickets early this week
this is friday evening here Aalwar first show was at 7 30 pm Friday ok so I with my friends went to the theatre and got a seat in the back the theatre is Booked till monday man the movie Rocks to be honest, I would've been satisfied if it was anything near Dheenaa it's a triple Dheenaa the first half was like a thriller n Fun. Good jokes by vivek(after a long time) cute romances and the Songs are picturized very well the second half has unexpected twists and turns i was at the edge of my seat last time I was like this was in 1999 WC semi final during interval, I phoned my brother( who was supposed to see the moive at 10 30) and asked for his and his friends' tickets went back again for 10 30 show with my friends couldn't ask for more Thalai is class movie is very stylish I'll watch it again on tuesday . In short awesome movie |

| As you are aware that Aalwar is releasing at Thiruvanmiyur Thyagaraja. Today when I am passing via Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur I have noticed thar AALWAR poster is rocking. For very 50 metres they have pasted a different posters of Aalwar.
Guys also a good news. At first other movie was planned to screened in Ganapathiram (which is now renovated and varalaru was screened). But now other movie was moved to Jayanthi (which is a non ac + less seating theatre). I have also noticed that not even a single poster of anyother movie was fixed. |

<---deleted coz it contains some unwanted info---> Aazhwar on the other hand is a feel-good entertainer targeting mainly rural audience. Sure hit. The plot is about a introvert Iyengar priest who is forced to turn into a cold-blooded mass murderer after his family is butchered in front of his eyes while defending the sanctity of his temple. The screenplay is neat and moves at a steady pace and has the feel of Mugavari. source: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/ajithfans/message/22317 |

Thala simply rocks in his style n bodylanguage.... songs are beautiful now with the screenplay wich made to ask us once more for sollitharava..... Shella has handled the movie technically good... ATLAST AALWAR CONTAINS ALL THE ELEMENTS FOR A COMMERCIAL BLOCK BUSTER........ THALA MADE IT Again.... 4 in a row for him Now everything lies in publicity and frequent posters...... Main attraction is THALA himself..... he looks so handsome. |

| Alwar is extremely different from Ajith's previous movies ....
If u think , it is a masala movie from hearing its songs , then u r absolutely wrong .... ++++++ Ajith's look and costumes, all song sequences(especially Pallandu ..), different screenplay(i didn't feel even a single sequence as boring ....), Asin + Vivek's perfomance, Srikanth's music(both songs + BGM) and a police character who searches Ajith has done differently .... Shella gets a good mark in his 1st movie itself .... -- Story line is based on spirituality(especially for those who are against spiritualism) .... |

| I don't usually write reviews for saami padams. But this is special.
Yes, Thala blockbuster Aazhwar is a Devudu film like that of NTR. But unlike Sify's mischievous claims, the film is not for Ajith fans only. It caters primarily to rural audience at large. All songs of Aazhwar have been nicely choreographed. Thala looks particularly stunning in "Pidikkum" song. Vivek's comedy track is adequate. Subbarayan's stunts are terrific. Go and Watch with bhakti. |

| Ajith has come up with an outstanding performance in his latest movie Aalwar. The movie has had a great opening all over Tamilnadu where it has been screened. Following up with the success of Varalaaru, Ajit proves that he deserves the title "The Ultimate Star".
This is the second movie in which the successful pair Ajith and Asin are together. It is to be noted that the previous movie Varalaaru is creating a 'Varalaaru' in the Tamil industry by nearing the magical 100 days mark. It is also worth mentioning that this is another mother-son-sister sentiment after the blockbuster hit Tirupathi. 'Shiva' the character name for Ajith spells success as it has in most of his movies like Valee etc. How the character Aalwar, the priest changes into the character Shiva is the simple synopsis of this movie. Aalwar comes in an interesting role of a priest and he is very much attached to his sister and mother. Unfortunately Aalwar's sister and mother are killed by the villains Lal, Vincent Asokan and others. Aalwar is also pronounced dead but he comes back as Shiva, a ward boy in a government hospital. Shiva takes the role of Narasimha to take revenge and uses the punch line "Naan Kadavul" which creates a roaring applause in the theatres. Asin is beautiful as always and she captures the screen by her presence. The songs of Asin and Ajith are picturized beautifully in Switzerland and the director needs to be applauded for this. Vivek comes and does a marvelous job along with Manorama. The music is good and the background score gives the audience a good experience. Overall Aalwar fulfills the expectations of the Ajith fans and is set to deliver the expectations of the Pongal Tiruvalizha. |

Pongal Movies - An Overview January 15, 2007 Pongal is a much awaited time for movie releases. However many movies did not make it to the silver screen this time. However the movies that finally made it were Ajith's Aalwar, Vijay's Pokkiri, Mani Rathnam's Guru and Vishal's Thaamirabarani. alwar has had a grand opening as usual. Ajith stars with Asin in this movie. Pokkiri is also running to packed houses and it has Vijay and Asin in the lead roles. |

| Aalwar behindwoods review (idk if anyone else had posted it)
Aalwar: Ajith is the saving grace Behindwoods Movie Review Board This news is sponsored by www.behindbikes.com Ajith Asin Aalwar Aalwar: movie review - Ajith is the saving grace Cast : Ajith, Asin, Vivek, Manorama Direction: Chella Music: Srikanth Deva Production : Mohan Natarajan When a director debuts, great things are not expected. It is unfair to ask a newcomer to match up to the more experienced hands in the field. However, the debutant is expected not to make a complete hash of the job at hand. Chella somehow manages to do exactly that. He had with him, all the makings of a winner. Ajith, hot after Varalaaru; Asin and Ajith’s pair in Varalaaru, Vivek and a few others. But the movie does not live up to what was expected from Ajith after Varalaaru’s success. Beginning with the script, (written by the director himself) it stops and starts every few minutes. The momentum is never really gathered, it’s all in fits and starts. The script writer appears confused as to how he wants to treat the movie. The movie begins with Ajith being shown as a priest (Aalwar) in a temple. Righteous as the hero is supposed to be, he becomes a thorn in the flesh of a few devious guys. They wipe out his family and what follows is the hero’s saga of vengeance. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it. But things could have been executed well even with this pretty jaded storyline. The director’s immaturity shows through. He tries to delight Ajith fans in a very honest attempt but sadly falls short. Asin Aalwar Ajith’s presence is the only thing that makes one sit through the movie. Scenes involving the Ultimate Star leave an impression. But the moment he is off the screen the movie sags and drags until he returns again. Other characters have not been well etched. Asin is wasted. She comes and goes in the songs. The few scenes that she has, appear tiring. Keerthi Chawla, the other heroine has almost nothing to do. Vivek, out of form for quite some time continues his lean patch. His attempt at making the audience smile elicits little response; the script too fails to support him. Veteran, Manorama comes and goes, not much to mention. The main villain’s ‘cast in stone’ expressions do not help the cause of the movie. He does not look threatening enough to give strength to Ajith’s character. The fight scenes, choreographed by Super Subbarayan are one of the few highlights of the movie. Ajith has performed each one of them wholeheartedly, hats off to him. Camerawork too maintains respectable standards. Music by Srikanth Deva is ordinary at best. It doest not support or do much harm to the cause of the movie. All in all, a movie that fails to impress because of the director’s inexperience. Cannot say that Chella has no future, but he needs to work very hard on his script writing and presentation. Ajith on the other hand squanders all his hard work with a poor choice of film. He certainly must pay more attention to the offers that he accepts. Being a director’s actor is fine, but he must know where to draw the line and ask for better handling. As an actor and star, Ajith does his lot with commitment. Aalwar : Only for Ajith. http://www.behindwoods.com/tamil-movie-articles/movies-05/aalwar-review.html |

| Critics Rating: (2.0/5)
Language: TAMIL Director: Chella Producer: Mohan Natarajan Cast: Ajith, Asin, Keerthi Chawla, Vivek, Manorama, Lal Music: Srikanth Deva more... The Vedas and other ancient scriptures proclaim that whenever the virtues are in the decline and evil becomes rampant, God incarnates as an Avatar (often in human form) to re-establish Dharma by protecting the righteous and destroying the evil forces. This belief perfectly sets the tone for "Aalwar," a revenge-genre movie. The first-time director Sellaa has constructed the movie which is more of style than of substance. The biggest drawback is that the story does not have a strong plot or surprising twists. There is also a palpable lack of chemistry between the characters and this gives the picture a poorly contrived feel. Sellaa has reinvented the mythological figures with imagination and handled the story in such a way that Ajith walks away with his action-hero image boosted. Here goes the story... Siva (Ajith) works in a government hospital as a mortician. Revenge is the name of the game for this young man. Though on the surface he is soft and silent, there is an undercurrent of anger and bloodthirsty revenge running within him. Wherever he sees crimes perpetrated, he responds by giving the baddies a spectacular 'punishment': a brutal death. In two incidents, he appears as Lord Rama and Lord Krishna and kills the criminals (Vincent Asokan & others) with the punch line: "Nan Kadavul!" (I am God!)! Priya (Asin) comes from Hyderabad and stays in the same mansion where Siva lives. She likes his soft nature and soon falls for him. She tries every trick in her bag to woo him, but Siva remains emotionally unattached. Meanwhile, the police wake up to the serial killings and cast their net wide to apprehend Siva. How he dodges the police form the first part. In the second half, he narrates in a flash back the trauma that drove him to take up arms from being a simple temple priest. Ajith's performance is of three types. When alone, he is silent and morose. When it comes to taking revenge he's as forceful as a battle tank, crushing the bad guys in his path. In the attire of Gods he looks as benign as Gods. Asin has performed the smallest ever walk-on role in this film. Even in her few screen appearances, she either dreams of singing and dancing or woos her lover with dialogues that lack heart. There is not much meat in Vivek's comedy. Srikanth Deva's music is a mix of rhythm and melody. 'Pallandu, Pallandu,' sung by Unnikrishnan, is a pleasing classical number in the film. Action choreographer Super Subbarayan has used special effects with such aplomb that all the other action masters and movie- gores will take note of. The period settings for Ajith's avatars are made lively by cinematographer Nirav Shah. Ajith's performance is what lifts up the movie despite all its drawbacks and surely it will be a Pongal delight for his fans. |

Ajith’s interest in Chennai-600028 IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, January 17, 2007] It’s Chennai-600028 in the news again. This time it’s about Venkat Prabhu, the director of this film. The director of Chennai 600028, Venkat Prabhu is said to be preparing a script for ultimate star Ajith Kumar next. Both Venkat Prabhu and Ajith Kumar became good friends during the filming of 'Ji'. It is said that Ajith Kumar has consistently been enquiring about the progress on Chennai 600028 through many of the film’s technicians. By the looks of it, Ajith Kumar, who is evincing keen interest in the movie, is eagerly waiting to see Chennai 600028 at the soonest possible. You never can tell. It could be the teaming up of Ajith and Venkat Prabhu next! Source - http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/article/28525.html |

NOV, Varalaaru was a bit of clever mix of old + new. There were many interesting sequences that brought out the other side of Ajith. (Performer). As far as AALWAAR is concerned, it is better than GF since it is a much better family entertainer than Varalaaru IMO But aalwaar is not yet another PMS, TPT etc stuffs. It is pretty neat and decent IMO. NO cheap comedy, NO vulgar double meaning dialogues, less violence etc. But have to say this.. for the last 30 mins, the director needs a hammer except the fight sequence in a factory. Fights are realistic as well. The negative thing can be the dejavu feel one can get in the sequences at the end of the flashback ! and Just for the dashing look of AJITH - I watched the movie. But I hate to say this : thala should go for interesting scripts than stuffs like this especially after movies like Varalaaru, Villan etc |

Vijay’s dad catches up with Aalvar By Behindwoods News Bureau. January 17, 2007 This news is sponsored by www.behindbikes.com With the release of Aalvar and Pokkiri, the clash of the titans has begun again. Fans queuing up in theatres trying to catch a glimpse of their idol are not new. But actor Ajith for a change had two unexpected fans watching his movie. Vijay’s dad and mom, S A Chandrasekar and Shoba Chandrasekar were spotted walking out of Kamala theatre after watching Ajith’s Aalwar. The veteran director, Chandrasekar is known for his astute cinema sense and razor sharp mind to read the pulse of the audience. SAC has this habit of watching movies with an open mind and is very appreciative of one’s hard work. He also makes it a point to catch up with the latest successful movies in the theatres to learn a lesson or two on the fans reactions. Amidst strong competition between their son Vijay and Ajith, the star Mom and Dad took some time off to catch up with Aalvar to see the highs and lows of the movie. It is said that Chandrasekar had also taken a special note of the fans’ behavior during the screening. With his latest directorial venture Nenjirukkum Varai not faring well at the box office may be S A C thinks he can get inspired with some fresh ideas from other movies as well. After all it’s smart to learn from others mistakes. Source - http://www.behindwoods.com/tamil-movie-news/jan-07-03/17-01-07-aalvar.html |

| Thala's generosity
In giving as well as keeping it a secret, there's none to beat Ajith.Because of the reduction in cinema ticket rates, the theatre owners came to a decision that in the name of minimum guarantee, no advance will be given to distributors. This upset the distributors who then approached the producers, asking them to reduce the area price. In reaction, the producers delved into the salary packet of the stars. They demanded that heroes should reduce their acting fee, otherwise their films will not be released for Pongal. Vijay and Vishal did not accept that. 'Pokkiri' and 'Thamirabarani' got released anyway. Ajith However it is reported that Ajith returned a part of his salary, that amounts to nearly 2 crores. Ajith is indeed generosity personified! |

| Films that made Ajith - The Ultimate Star
9) Villan The star’s final hit till date and again he did a dual role under the hands of K.S.Ravikumar. The film is totally a commercial film with five songs, some breath-taking fights, sentiments and all such ingredients mixed for a perfect masala film. Though, Ajith proved his ability in the role of a physically handicapped. Kiran and Meena played the female lead. He once again received the filmfare award for this film and he also won the state award. 8) Citizen Though the film was not a big hit it made some wonders in the film industry. For, the first time appeared in seven different make-ups for the film. Each of the roles is different and the body language for each of the role was also diverse. Ajith with his full stab did the movie but it ended up in vein. The full credit goes to Saravanan Subbiah, the introducing director of the film. 7) Dheena A complete action packed film! Ajith appeared in a different make-up for the first time. He took up a role of rogue. The film Dheena directed by the debutant director A.R.Murugadoss paved way to success to both of them. The punch dialogues delivered by Ajith in this film are still even remembered. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music and this was the first time Ajith was doing some westernized musicality. Ajith seemed little bit chunky in this film but still he looked smart. 6) Mughavaree This is also by a debut director director, Doorai. You must have seen a different Ajith in this film. A soft person in a middle class family whose aim is to become a music director. In this script Ajith’s character is picturised as a person next to your house. Jyotika played the female lead. The others in the cast are Raghuvaran, Sithara and Rajiv. The songs were extremely good and music was done by Deva. Nobody can forget Ajith’s mind-blowing performance in this film! 5) Amarkalam For the second time Ajith joined hands with Saran and the film was again ended up in a great victory! This is Ajith’s 25th movie. This might be an unforgettable movie for Ajith, because Shalini who was the heroine for the film became his life partner. Ajith played a different role in this picture, a dada. He would do anything for the purpose of money and his survival. It is also a love story but it is different, finding the soft corner in a rude person. The other plus of this movie is Raghuvaran. Bharadwaj handled the music and ‘Sathamilathaa’ song sung by S.P.B was marvelous. 4) Valee Again, the debut film for director S.J.Suryah! This shows his attitude and has enlighted the lives of many such directors. For, the first time Ajith took up double act, playing the role of twin brothers. An excellent and outstanding performance! The character played by Deva was well portrayed and an incredible acting, especially the scenes with Simran, in which she played the female lead. Deva scored the music and the songs were again a great knock. Ajith received the filmfare award for this particular movie and he also received so many honors for this movie. 3) Kadhal Mannan The debut film for director Saran! In this film Ajith played a multi- faceted hero. He had love sequences, outstanding comedy scenes with Vivek, some fight sequences and wonderful emotional scenes! Particularly, the climax scene is implausible, considering the emotional point of view. New comer Manu played opposite to Ajith. Karan and Krish Karnat also did justice to their role. Bharatway, the debutant music director did an first-rate job. The introduction scene of Ajith was really different and a big applause goes to the director. 2) Kadhal Kottai The national award winning movie! The second success for the hero and from there he laid a strong foundation in his journey. The film had an excellent story line and the script was sturdily made by Ahathiyan. The others in the lead role are Devayani, Heera, Kiran and Thalaivasal Vijay. Again the music was scored by Deva and it was also a hit! Ajith, as a hero did a fabulous job and he was so appealing to see! Especially, when Heera invites him to the dinner and tries to make a proposal to him, the way he denies it. Wow! What a cute acting and cannot be described! 1) Aasai Aasai was Ajith Kumar’s 15th film in which he tasted his first success. The film was directed by the expert director Vasanth and produced by Aalayam. The other cast includes Suvalaksmi, Prakash Raj, Rohini and Vadivelu in the main lead. Ajith showed himself as a good actor through this movie. The songs had a great welcome among the audience and the music was scored by Deva. The success journey for the actor started from here! TV's ,Magazines can't make movies hit or flop in case of Stars like Rajini,Kamal,Ajith,Vijay ..TV ,Media can have impact on movies from non-stars movies by positive reviews (Eg .Sethu ,Kathal etc) Irrespective of bad/good reviews and marks from TV or other media ,Star's movies will hit or flop mostly by word of mouth from audience and non-star actors and directors ,thinks may be different |

Joe - 100% true. But not for all movies. There are movies that have become popular coz of this and there are movies that have disappeared coz of this. Many examples are there. You can project a FLOP movie as a HIT through all the channels and the impact is huge |

THALA becomes GOD !! ------------------------------------------ Thousands gather for a glimpse of Trisha, Ajith Even before Aalwar’s release, Ajith has quickly moved on to his next film Kireedam to be directed by debutant director, Vijay. A song Kannodu Kan Serumbhodhu choreographed by the director himself was filmed on Ajith and Trisha recently at Rajamundhry’s Paper Mill Ground. A huge crowd of about 5,000 men and women had gathered there to catch a glimpse of Ajith and Trisha and they referred to them as Devuda (God). The unit had a tough time handling the crowd. Talking about the incident, Vijay said, “When finally we did manage to control the crowd, we heard murmurs and had no clue from where it was originating. Then we realised that hundreds of people who were sitting on all the trees were responsible for the hullabaloo. It became a mammoth task to bring them down from the trees.” According to him, all the songs are conceptualised well and none appear as forced. The songs are a natural progression to the story. He was all praise for GV Prakash for the five songs that he has composed for his film. |

Aalwar - Serious flick - Newindpress review (A good review) Serious flick Wednesday January 17 2007 11:09 IST Heroes nowadays pay attention not to disappoint fans. Ajith is a smart guy who knows what his fans expect from him. He has provided just that, even though most part the film moves on a formulaic pattern. Coming after his big success of Varalaru, Ajith looks confidence personified and delivers his usual punch with poise. He looks at ease and elegant. The usual package of action, comedy, sentiments which an average film-goer expects are present too. The story is the metamorphosis of a simple, straight forward ward boy Aalwar in a hospital, who becomes an avenging machine named Shiva. How does Aalwar end up as Shiva? Well, Aalwar is a traditional priest attached to his mom and sister. But villains Lal and Vincent Asokan finish off his sister and mother. This makes Aalwar rage with anger and seek revenge . He becomes Shiva, the killer, while working as a ward boy in a hospital. Shiva is out to make a statement against the venal forces. He sees himself as some kind of avatar and even bumps off the baddies. Woven into this simple masala story, is the love angle with Asin. Besides there is also the comedy of Vivek, which is indeed hilarious at times. Ajith’s character is very simple and he delivers it with his usual aplomb. His intensity when dealing with the baddies is realistic. Asin is full of panache and shows her usual chirpiness. Vivek is back in his element and the comedy tracks carry his usual spark and spunk. The music and camera are okay without anything extra-ordinary. The director has not left down his fans. Forget abt sify and suntv, they given Thiruvilayadal is above allwar , he he… One thing Aalwar may not do the big business like varalaaru, but nobody beaten us, by giving a great hit But Thala should careful in future while accept such scripts, he should concentrate on screenply. Exactly Siva. He must be careful in choosing scripts from New Comers. |

You can bet your life on this. After Sivaji and Dasavadaram, Billa will be the biggest money spinner of the year without a shadow of a doubt. Remaking out an out commericial movie is a safe bet, but remaking Billa is riskier than making an original, fresh movie. True hardworks who want to earn success in the right way will win |
