  நான் கடவுளில் பல பிரச்னைகளால் உங்களுக்கு ஜோடியாக ஹீரோயின்கள் மாறிக் கொண்டே இருந்தார்களே... அந்தக் கொடுமையான அனுபவம் எப்படியிருந்தது?

  I have never got exposure to mantras on Lord Shiva except Om NamaShivaya! This is the 1st time i'm hearing Rudhras.... It does create a vibration. Powerful indeed!!!

  I knew many people are trying to decipher the lyrics 'namakku konjame konjam (KV'la Padichathaala) samskrutham theriyum' Hence I tried my hands on it but it proved difficult and took hour to write down the lyrics, especially the chants that come second is very difficult. hope there are no mistakes

  I am sure that these emoticons are not enough to describe my feelings....... I am fully in tears even after listening so many times.... The man who made me really a mad with this album..... I am yet to get out of the shock of pleasure...... The feeling is just like I am holding my last breath to listen this album..... IMO, this might be the bestever album in IR's career which touches your soul very easily and takes you to the divine world in which I was never before.....

  Check this link out for a glimpse into the sort of world that Bala is going to show us - After exploitation of tribals in Bodi mettu in ganja fields, it is going to be the foot hills of pazhani and flourishing beggary business there..   Usually http://www.anytamil.com carry Tamil albums. But they don't have NK yet, I am not surprised. I suggest you look in Hillcroft Ave. But I doubt if they carry the CDs.

  In 2008, he has penned songs for 30 films. He has totally written 103 songs. Some of the songs penned by Muthukumar include Taxi Taxi (Sakkaraikatti), Choo…Choo…Mari (Poo). Mudhal Mazhai (Bheemaa), Adada Adada (Santhosh Subramaniyam) and Machaa Machaan (Silambattam).
  
  Muthukumar is currently writing for songs in films including Endhiran, Naan Kadavul, Siva Manasula Sakthi, Nandhalala, Jaggubhai, Jagan Mohini among others.

  Though IR is very good in 'Amma un pillai' he didn't succeed the level he achieved previously in Ak our prem kahani, Shiva (hindi) and Cheeni kum. I meant in reproducing his old song again. But I like that song. Om Sivoaham is wonderful song in the genre it sits. It is 'Kannil Paarvai' which is my pick of album since it gives 'the feel' to me.
  
  I wonder how the albums gives unique feel though one song (tune) composed some 20+ years before and with another 10 year old song. That is one of the reasons of victory of this album. But at the same time on the whole I am slightly disppointed since no 'Ilangaathu veesuthey' kind of song (I was expected).
  
  I read somewhere NK will have fun scenes same like Pithamagan had. If Bala can put humour why should not give place for a feel free song like 'Ilangaathu veesuthey'?.

  Katradhu Tamil audio was released somewhere in the mid of Aug/Sept 2007.
  I listened only to those five songs continuously (without changing the playlist) for atleast 10 days... crossing 100 times Yuvan's best effort in his career....

  Every album has couple of good/great songs and a couple of average numbers. My point is this album on the whole has all tracks good and enjoyable and I must say NK is the best for Bala's movies so far.

  In particular the fight - I mean the assault - in the lock-up with the policemen was incredibly stunning. We Tamil Cinema audience have been inured by years of every hero twisting the henchman's head like the cap of a soft drink bottle. Yet we have the selfsame thing done but with 'real' impact and rawness that makes you go "whoa".
  
  Super Subbarayan has still got it though. I remember being quite impressed with the stunts in Ghajini.

Rather than routinely evaluating the movie's credits and loopholes, the narrative is more understandable if looked upon as the creator's intense expression expressed through a variety of characters in the visual field. The benefit will be more if the understanding and application are purely left to individual capability and maturity.
  
  Contrary to the popular views, branding the film as one based on the debate of atheism vs. religion, the movie revolves around the life of an individual named Rudran. Is he a Godman?Is he the 'Kadavul' in the film? Is he a saint, a person who shuns life, its pain and pleasures? Well, he defies fixed identities awarded to individuals based on their lives and deeds. In a way, he is extraordinary and exudes immense energy; he is furiously driven by an unseen force. Rudran is recognizably different from most human beings, yet one amongst us. Though his looks and manner are unkempt, harsh and misleading, and he does not let his greatness show, the wisdom escapes from within this powerful man. So how does one describe Rudran? For common men, he is bizarre and harmful. But for those who view him profoundly, he is a living power symbolising the combination of the most controversial things in God's creation; he stands for triumphs and evil, light and dark, good and bad; his power and majesty lies principally in his unusual assortment. His ideals are practical, not governed by worldly rules; he is certainly not a device of destruction. But his ferocity singes those who deceive themselves and the world by flaunting their cheap instruments of divinity and who display false power and influence.
  
  However, Rudran is not alone; he is flanked by his favourite people, his affectionate associates. These people are physically-challenged and poor. Their fellow men mock at their abnormal physical appearances and treat them as insignificant creatures, as earth's useless burden. But, amid the crushing poverty and societal snubbing, their work-hardened bodies and enlivening smiles know nothing other than love and endurance. For them, Rudran is their master. He is the spirit of God who has come upon earth to guide them, to take them past hazards and loathing.
  
  According to Bala, the world's spirituality rests on these people's innocent smiles, germinates on their deeds and matures on their sacred lives. But what if one of them is a member of our own family? What if the suffering lot has an inherent link to us? Naan Kadavul discusses the pain and irony arising out of such a demanding and hypothetical situation. Pooja appears as Amsavalli. Does this pretty lady cast an emotional influence on Rudran? Does it blossom into a full-fledged relationship?   I am not able to choose between the two but NL has an edge over NK. My guess is NK will have authentic tamil flavor and people outside TN will not be able to understand and appreciate it as much as NL. I believe Mysskin has the potential to take tamil movies globally.

  The songs dont sound international - they sound very thamizh - hitting the soft spot of thamizh ethos. Naan Kadavul is the all india thingy. the theme of NK is quite universal.

  Well NK songs are not so thamizh. There is a hindustani ghazal and om sivoham is sanskrit. NK songs are only supposed to have two as well. I am guessing Om Sivoham to be definitely one of them.

  I wasn't talking about the songs. My observation is based on their movies. If you consider songs,yes, NL has tamil flavor and so is NK (may be excluding couple of tracks). Mysskin watches a lot of world cinema and he has been adapting them into his movies. But Bala has been making movies from his own experiences mostly, so it is difficult for the people who are alien to the rural lifestyles of TN to understand and appreciate.

  The wait is finally over. The much-hyped and anticipated movie of the decade, Nan Kadavul, been in the making for over a couple of years, will finally hit the screens on 6 February.
  
  Directed by Bala and produced by Sreenivasan, Nan Kadavul features Arya and Pooja in the lead roles. Talking exclusively to Indiaglitz, Sreenivasan confirmed that the movie will be released with over 200 prints worldwide on 6 February.
  
  He said, 'the movie has come fantastic. It will certainly set a new trend in Indian cinema. All credit should go to director Bala. His hard work is visible in every screen. A man of innovative thoughts, he has contributed his best'.

  Hats off to Bala and producer K.S Sreenivasan of Naan Kadavul, they have marketed the film very well.
  
  All distribution rights of the film worldwide have been sold at decent prices.
  
  Naan Kadavul, has been nearly three years in the making and went through two producers before Sreenivasan picked it up. And when Zee TV backed out after buying all rights, the world around Bala crashed.
  
  But Bala and Sreenivasan were confident about their product and they went on a aggressive marketing spree. They had a big audio launch which made the songs composed by Ilayaraja popular and the trailer was stunning.
  
  The buzz on the movie became big overnight as Bala's trailer cut was appreciated. Soon the word spread that the film is different and may work at the box-office, and the trade was gung-ho about it.

They are people who do not harm anyone and live their life aiming at self-realization. I was living among those Sadhus in Kasi almost more than a year. It is certainly a note-worthy experience where I was about to see that they do have funny side and enjoy every feasible minute they come across. We researched through many movies and books to know what an Agori does, what will be his actions and reactions, what is his mannerism and way of life as much as possible but in vain. However we managed to jot few things down and that’s when Rudran was born. Everything that portrays Rudran in ‘Naan Kadavul’ is what we learned through experience. I must thank director Bala for being a perfectionist and it is this part of him that taught me patience and perseverance to perform my best’ says the actor.

Bala is definitely one of that kind. 3 years in the making, a change of hero, change of producer, 3 or more heroines considered and a whole lot of controversy are all things that went against Naan Kadavul. But, in spite of all that the movie is about to hit theaters. One first remembers hearing the title somewhere in 2005 and at that time it was associated with Ajith. It was well into 2006 by the time it was confirmed that Arya would be doing the role. Even getting started with the shooting in earnest looked like a humungous task.   To be fair that posture is called 'artha padmasana' it is a valid posture. but his sirasasana was genuine and is found in movie launch stills.

  'padmAsanam' is something they taught us at school. (I'm not sure whether they still teach such postures in TN schools).
  
  So, this is probably something known to even school children. If Bala misses this in a picture given to lot of media people for publicity (same still is there on sify as well), his quest for perfectionism becomes questionable.

  If I am not wrong, sirasAsanam is like keeping both your feet straight upwards. Arya was talking about the padmAsanam done in the sirasAnam pose coming in the beginning of the trailer.

  A friend of mine caught Naan Kadavul's preview show at Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai. The show started at 10.15 PM and finished just now. He said Simbu was also there for the show.
  
  Now, abt the movie, he said it is not as good as Pithamagan (to quote his words, "it is not even 25% that of Pithamagan"). First half is really slow. The climax is absolutely stunning. Arya and Pooja rocked. There are some heavy cuts by the Censor Board towards the climax which reduces the intensity.
  
  Overall he said he was disappointed. But that is his opinion. You guys might like it.

  Sorry guys. He is not exactly the kind of person who pays attention to BGM and other technical stuff. He is a Vijay fan (no offense to Vijay fans) who purely looks for entertainment.   This is an exact opposite of a vijay movie. I wont recommend the movie for women and children.
  Bala has shown his anger on some of the present superstars of tamil cinema at some places.
  
  Bala has done nothing extraordinary for story,screenplay or direction.. he is bold enough to show what is happening in some parts of the world to perfection.

  Out it also seems. I thought it might have been in regarding the length of that song. But the fella said there were some cuts in the movie so maybe it may be theater operators' work. Anyway i am not so bothered, the two most important and relative songs are there(Not that i dunt think kannil paarvai is important but i thought it would be a speedbreaker for such a intense film).

  The thing is, even if it was in production way before SDM it did not release before SDM and so even if it releases the chances of it being successful will be reduced. As much as we all know the people who have little access to media will not know this and think that NK was inspired by SDM after watching it on first hand.   Yeah same for me, when i watched pithamagan it was quite sudden for me. Had to watch the movie and analyse scene by scene to understand appo thaan pudichudhu. I think the part where he explained about vikram's relationship with surya and the rest after coming from a netherworld like surrounding was what really made the movie enthralling and of course the climax.

  Watch this movie at any cost in theater. Again and again Raja proves why he is the best for original scores in India. vEra entha kombanAlum intha mAthiri isai pOda mudiyAthu, Raja's trademark throughout the movie but it is not spoiling the experience. He hasn't lost his individuality yet.

  Theater response was very good, actually people laughed and looked enjoying it (there were some funny moments and witty dialogues through out the film) until the last 10 mins of the movie. This is certainly a new experience for tamil audience. Arya talks mostly in Sanskrit/Hindi but no one from the audience felt irritated, that itself is a victory for Bala.

  Sethu and Nandha are one of my all-time favourites..I have watched both these movies 1/2 a dozen times.
  
  Pithamagan was Nothing GR8 IMO...Surya was the one who made the movie watchable..
  
  Naan Kadavul...The concept is confusing...OMG Is this reality..It is so disturbing and BALA has over-exagerated the Screenplay to a large extent.
  
  This movie may be different to People and may appreciate the movie...But to me It made no sense.
  
  as far as the BO Is concerned "Forget about it", the movie will soon be in the Producers Inbox or "ulaga tholaikatchigalil Mudhan murayaga" Kind.

  bimmer: nandhA is better than pithAmagan for you. For me it is just the opposite. So tastes differ, and Bala can't satisfy everybody May be this is my taste, I would rate nAn kadavul as the best from him. If only Censor had given him some more freedom, he would've made it complete by inserting more darkness which is vital for the climax that I feel missing the punch little bit at the end.

  finally watched the movie and theatre is not housefull(dnt know why)
  
  first of all i liked bala's sethu and pithamagan,going through nan kaduval, 1st half is good,comedy,bgm,acting are all good but bala has taken 3 years of time,so he should concentrate on story(very thin line story&can't able to understand properly) rather than performance of actor's
  
  in boxoffice i dnt think it will do well,because family audience and kids will def skip this movie

  just watched nan kadavul dont know what happened there. Arya was good throughout the movie and even better is pooja but so many scenes got cut and too many words got censored. making the movie unwatchable and confusing. The movie's run time was only around 2hr 10 mins. ( maybe even short ). Most of the fights were cut and not even a scene showing cannibalism.
  
  I dont know why it took 3 years to complete. looked like a 6 month movie.
  
  Top performances by arya and pooja. However, the reality of showing how disabled childrens are treated for the sake of few pence was really moving, i dont think a soft heart person could watch most of it.

  The father brings back his son to his native village Malaikovil, in south Tamilnadu, famous for its hill temples. A bald tough guy called Muthalali (Rajendran) runs a profitable beggar mafia business using physically disabled young, old and children to get sympathy from the pilgrims who visit the temple.

  Muthalali's assistant is Murugan a man whose conscience torments him at the same time is constantly living in fear of his boss who is ruthless and has no human feelings. One day Murugan kidnaps a blind beggar and a singer Hamsavalli (Pooja) and forces her to be a part of the gang.
  
  Enter Nair a slimy and dirty guy who controls organized begging in Kerala, and enters into a deal with Muthalali, arranged by a cop, to buy some of these Urupadi's (pieces) and take them to Sabarimala, Malayatoor and other places in Kerala for begging!
  
  The story takes a turn as the downtrodden people's prayers are heard and Rudran turns out to be their savior, leading to a stunning climax and the film ends with a positive message. Bala once again asserts that traditional human values will always triumph over evil.
  
  The USP of the film is its perfect casting. The unkempt long hair, the red loony eyes, the ash-smeared face, the tongue snaking out of his lips, and that sloshy voice, Arya pumps life and blood and gets under the skin of Rudran, making his animal like character so convincing. He has delivered a performance that is hard to forget even days after you've watched the film. Pooja as the blind singer is luminous and her outstanding performance will be talked about, as the film belongs to her, especially the lead to the climax.
  
  The bunch of beggars handpicked by Bala are amazing whether it is eunuch or the midget boy, the guy who plays Murugan and Rajendran as the villain are outstanding. The haunting music of Ilayaraja gives the feel the mood and camera work of Arthur Wilson is poetry on celluloid. The screenplay and dialogues of noted Tamil writer Jayamohan is a major plus for the movie.
  
  Bala can ask Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire director) to take a walk. He has brilliantly portrayed the dark and disturbing side of the beggar mafia in places around devotional institutions in the country. It is stark realistic yet with large dosages of humour and leaves a lump in our throat. This is undoubtedly new radical Tamil cinema. The industry people may call it Paithiam to make a picture on Pichakaran's, but Bala has the guts to do it.
  
  On the down side, the scene where Arya's father recognizes his son among thousands of sadhus in Kasi is a little hard to believe. Most of premises like the one inside the train (Pitamagan) or the place that beggar's live (Sethu) looks familiar. There are some disturbing scenes and the film cannot be digested by one and all.
  
  If Subramaniapuram was level 2 in Kollywood cinema, Naan Kadavul is level 3, it is our journey to international cinema. Bala has made it hard hitting, raw and riveting, qualities that is lapped up by worldwide connoisseurs of good cinema.
  
  To be honest, the director has shown the dark underbelly of our less privileged citizens who are living like bonded slave laborers controlled by organized crime syndicates. The climax chase of Arya and villain is one of the most fantastic scenes you've seen in films for a long, long time.
  
  It's a much darker film than the director’s previous works. After the film, the entire audiences stood up and gave a stand ovation, something that has not happened in recent times. Watch Naan Kadavul, because it's one of those films that won't easily get out of your head long after the film is over.

  PV is a blockbuster and critically acclaimed one in the list. Rest are bombed at the BO miserably. Lets wait for couple of days/weeks before judging about NK's BO status.

  நான் கடவுள். முக்கிய அறிவிப்பு: இந்த விமர்சனத்தைப் படித்தால், 'நான் கடவுள்' படம் பார்க்கும் போது சுவாரசியம் குறைந்துவிடும் என எண்ணி தயவுகூர்ந்து படிக்காமல் இருக்க வேண்டாம். கண்டிப்பாய் படியுங்கள். ஏன் இப்படிச் சொல்கிறேன் எனப் படம் பார்த்தபின்னோ அல்லது இந்தப் பதிவைப் படித்த பின்னோ தெரியும். ஒரு பார்வை: நல்ல கதை. அகோரி கிகோரியென புதுப் பெயர்கள். அட்டகாசமாய் உயரமாய் ஆர்யா. படம் பிய்க்கும் என நினைத்தால், தலையைப் பிய்க்க வைக்கிறது. படம் முழுவதும் ஆர்யா இந்தியில் பேசுகிறார் (திட்டுகிறார்) அல்லது சமஸ்கிருதத்தில் மந்திரம் சொல்கிறார்.கஞ்சா குடிக்கிறார். மொத்தம் எட்டு காட்சிகளில் வருகிறார் ஆர்யா. பாவம், விக்ரம் மாதிரி, சூர்யா மாதிரி 'பாலா படத்தில் நடித்தால் பெரியாளா ஆயிருவோம்!' என்ற கனவோடு நடித்தவரின் தலையில் கல்லைப் போட்டிருக்கிறார் பாலா. இந்தப் படம் பார்த்தால் தான் தெரிகிறது, விக்ரமையும் சூர்யாவையும் பெரிய நடிகர்கள் ஆக்கியது பாலா அல்ல, அவர்கள் தான் தெரியாத்தனமாய் பாலாவை பெரிய ஆள் ஆக்கித் தொலைத்திருக்கிறார்கள். (அந்தப் பாவம் அவர்களை விடவே விடாது!!) ஆர்யாவுக்கு நடிக்க சுத்தமாய் வாய்பில்லை. கஞ்சா குடித்துவிட்டு கரகர குரலில் தொண்டைப் புற்றுநோய் வந்தவர் போல் கத்தவிட்டிருக்கிறார் பாலா. ஆர்யாவைப் பார்த்தாலே நமக்கு பாலா மீது கோபமும் ஆர்யா மீது பாவமும் வருகிறது. படத்தில் எங்கு காணினும் பிதாமகனின் அழுகிப்போன வாடை. பழைய பாடல்களைப் போட்டு பழைய நடிகர்கள் வேடத்தில் பிச்சையெடுக்கும் சிலரை காவல் நிலையத்தில் ஆடவிட்டுருக்கிறார், சிம்ரனும் சூர்யாவும் ஆடியதைப் போல. ஆர்யாவைக் கண்டு போலீசுகாரர்கள் மிரளுகிறார்கள், விக்ரமைக் கண்டு பிதாமகனில் மிரண்டதைப் போல. சண்டைகாட்சிகளும் பிதாமகனையே நினைவூட்டுகின்றன. படத்தின் பிரதான பங்கேற்பாளர்கள் (நடிகர்கள் எனச் சொல்வதில் சற்றும் மனமில்லை எனக்கு) பிச்சைக்காரர்கள். அதுவும் சாதாரணமாய் தென்படுபவர்கள் இல்லை, பொதுவாக நாம் நூறு பிச்சைக்காரர்களைப் பார்த்தால் அதில் ஒரு இரண்டு பேர் மிகவும் கொரூரமாகவும், பார்க்கவே பயம் வரவழைப்பவர்களாகவும்,அருவெறுப்பாகவும் இருப்பார்களே அதைப்போலத்தான் இந்தப்படத்தில் பாலா காட்டியுள்ள அத்தனைப் பிச்சைக்காரர்களுமே இருக்கிறார்கள். மிகவும் கொடூரமான முறையில் மிகவும் 'க்ளோசப்' (CLOSE UP)யில் அவர்களை படம் முழுதும் காட்டியுள்ளார். அவர்களும் நகைச்சுவை என்ற பெயரில் பாலா சொல்லிக்கொடுத்த கருமங்களை பேசிக்கொண்டு தாங்களாகவே பல நிமிடங்கள் சிரித்துக்கொள்கிறார்கள், காமிரா அவர்கள் முகத்தில் மெதுவாக பயணிக்கிறது, நமக்கு வயிற்றை புரட்டுகிறது, பயமாய் இருக்கிறது. ஊனமுற்றவர்களை பல இல்லங்களில் இருந்து அழைத்துவந்து அசிங்கப்படுத்தியுள்ளார் பாலா. அவர்களைப் பார்த்தாலே காசு கொடுத்து படம் பார்க்க வந்த நம் மீதும், பாலாவை நம்பி வந்த அவர்கள் மீதும் பாவமாய் இருக்கிறது. பூஜா பாவப்பட்ட நடிகை. ஒரு நடிகையை எவ்வளவு அருவெறுப்பாக, அசிங்கமாக காட்டமுடியுமோ அப்படிக்காட்டியுள்ளார்கள். படத்தில் அவர் மட்டுமே கொஞ்சம் நடித்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால் வேண்டுமென்றே திணிக்கப்பட்ட அவரின் 'மேக்கப்'ஆல் நம்மால் அவரின் நடிப்பை ரசிக்கமுடியவில்லை. அதுவும் கடைசி காட்சியில் வாந்தி வருகிறது. திடீர் திடீர் என்று பழைய படப் பாடல்கள் சம்பந்தமேயில்லாமல் படத்தில் ஒலிக்கின்றன. யாராவது பாடுகிறார்கள், அல்லது வானொலியில் ஒலிக்கிறது. படத்தில் தமிழ் மிகவும் கொஞ்சமாக வருகிறது. அப்படியே வந்தாலும் பின்ணணி இசை வசனங்களைத் தின்கிறது. ஆர்யா அதில் தனக்கு தமிழ் தெரிந்தாலும், என்ன கண்றாவிக்காக தமிழர்களான சக சாமியார்களிடமும் தன் குடும்பத்தாரிடமும் இந்தி பேசுகிறார் என விளங்கவில்லை. படத்தில் என்ன நடக்குது என சுதாரிக்கும் முன் இடைவேளை வந்துவிடுகிறது. இது ஒரு கிறுக்குப்பிடித்த, குரூரமான, வக்கிரமான படமென்றால் அது மிகையாகாது. பாலாவினுள் இருந்த கலைஞனின் தலையில் சேதுவுக்குப் பின் 'கணம்' புகுந்து விட்டது. தான் என்ன எடுத்தாலும் உலகம் பாராட்டும் என்ற நினைப்போ என்னவோ!!தான் நினைத்த போது மட்டும், பொழுது போகவில்லையென்றால் மட்டும் 'நான் கடவுள்' படப்பிடிப்புக்குப் போக வைத்திருக்கிறது. திரைக்கதையே எழுதாமல் மனதில் தோன்றிய கொடூரங்களையெல்லாம் கோர்வையேயில்லாமல் படமாய
