A classic, must-read novel. On the one hand, there is Achilles. Fate makes him and breaks him. He chooses honor over a long life, yet nevertheles is broken in two by Priam's pleas. On the other hand, there is Hector. He is not merely an exalted warrior, but the last hope for a civilized society (Troy) at its wits end. Then of course, there are the gods. Hera, Zeus, & Athena. Their fueding will make and shape the destinies of men.
