Robert Frost “Mending Wall” is humankind erects that maintains a real and symbolic barriers to protect and defend opposing stances, beliefs and territories. The barrier is a psychological instead of a physical one because Frost is attempting to halt the reinforcement of ignorance and the limiting of thought.
The way the poem itself seems to resemble impulsive speech through many ways. Firstly, it is a first person narrative poem, using “I” which suggests actuality, and the speaker is in reality there. The use of “I” makes it more like a monologue, rather than a poem too. It is also in the present tense, which helps to re-enforce the idea that it is actually happening now.
