Hai,
I dont know much of French. could you help? what does this mean? "Pour les pauvres de M. le Cure." I came across it in one of H H Munro's works.

since the plural has been used it can be better translated as "for the poor people of Mr Le Cure"

in English, when one says for the poor, it means for the poor people of course!

"Pour les pauvres de M. le Cure."
It means, Poor of Madame Le Cure.(either Madame Le Cure is taking care of poor people or she is running some kind of organization to help the poor)
